Expedited Freight Shipping

Priority coordination for time-sensitive shipments that cannot wait

Overview

Time-Sensitive Coordination

When standard timelines are not an option, expedited service provides the speed and attention your shipment requires.

Time-Sensitive by Nature

Expedited freight exists because standard transit timelines do not work for every situation. Production shutdowns, missed retail windows, emergency equipment needs, and supply chain disruptions all create scenarios where getting freight there faster is not a luxury — it is a necessity.

Dedicated Equipment

Expedited shipments are typically assigned dedicated trucks that do not make additional stops. Your freight goes from pickup directly to delivery without detours, terminal transfers, or waiting for other loads. This is what separates expedited from standard FTL — priority in both scheduling and routing.

Active Coordination

Expedited shipments require more hands-on management than standard freight. Our team stays in active communication with the driver and carrier throughout transit, providing you with real-time updates. When the delivery window is tight, you should never have to wonder where your freight is.

What We Need

Required Pickup and Delivery Details

Expedited freight moves fast, and that speed depends on having complete, accurate information from the start. Missing details delay carrier sourcing, which directly impacts how quickly we can get a truck to your dock. When requesting expedited service, please provide:

  • Exact pickup address and any site-specific instructions
  • Earliest available pickup time and date
  • Exact delivery address and any access restrictions
  • Required delivery date and time (or the latest acceptable window)
  • Commodity description, weight, and dimensions
  • Number of pallets or handling units
  • Equipment requirements (dry van, flatbed, temperature-controlled)
  • Contact name and phone number at both origin and destination
  • Any special handling, hazmat, or securement requirements

Communication

What to Expect from Us

When you book an expedited shipment with Rounding Third Logistics, communication becomes a two-way priority. Here is what you can expect from our team:

Confirmation of Carrier Assignment

Once we have secured a driver, you will receive carrier and driver details along with the confirmed pickup window. For expedited loads, we prioritize speed in this step.

Pickup Confirmation

You will be notified when the driver arrives at the pickup location and again when loading is complete and the truck is in transit.

In-Transit Updates

We provide regular check-call updates throughout transit. For expedited loads, these updates are more frequent than standard shipments. You can request a specific update interval or reach us directly at any time.

Delivery Confirmation

You will be notified upon delivery with proof of delivery documentation to follow. If any issues arise at delivery, we work to resolve them immediately.

Accuracy Matters

Why Complete Information Is Critical for Expedited

For standard freight, a missing detail might cause a minor delay. For expedited freight, it can mean the difference between meeting your deadline and missing it. Inaccurate addresses, wrong contact numbers, or incomplete commodity descriptions slow down every step of the process — from carrier sourcing to final delivery.

Providing complete weight, dimensions, and commodity information upfront ensures we match the right equipment on the first attempt. If the shipment requires a liftgate, appointment scheduling, or specific dock hours, we need to know before dispatching the driver, not after they arrive.

When time is the priority, preparation is the best tool you have. A few extra minutes spent confirming your shipment details can save hours on the other end.
